She is now a professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China. She is also a committee member of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies - developing countries committee (IFORS-DCC), a councilperson of Operations Research Society of China (ORSC), an executive director of the scheduling committee of ORSC and vice-presiding officer of Operations Research Society of Hubei Province. Her major research interests are on Modeling and Applications of Operations Research, Optimization in Public Transport Systems, Transit Planning, Vehicle and Crew Scheduling, and Metaheuristics. She was awarded with Runner-Up in the IFORS 2005 OR in Development Prize Competition for her work on scheduling buses and their crew for Beijing Bus Group. Since she returned to China after her half-year productive visit in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2010, she has developed a new public transit planning framework, which enhances the Chinese traditional one and has been successfully applied in five cities of China.
