On April 2, the Complex System and Swarm Intelligence Symposium was successfully held. The symposium was hosted by the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation, and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence at Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the State Key Laboratory of Digital Manufacturing Equipment and Technology. It was supported by the Key Laboratory of Image Information Processing and Intelligent Control of the Ministry of Education and IEEE Control Systems Society Wuhan Chapter. The Dean of the AIA, Professor Zeng Zhigang, and the Vice Dean, Professor Zhang Haitao, served as the chairpersons of the symposium, and Professor Yuan Ye and Professor Zhu Lijun served as the executive chairpersons.
Academician Tang Lixin, Vice President of Northeastern University, Prof. Cai Bogen, Dean of School of Computer and Information Technology in Beijing Jiaotong University, Prof. Xia Yuanqing, Dean of School of Automation in Beijing Institute of Technology, Prof. Xie Shengli from Guangdong University of Technology, Prof. Qiao Fei from Tongji University, and Prof. Di Zengru from Beijing Normal University attended the meeting and gave reports on Complex Systems and Swarm Intelligence, exploring the cutting-edge scientific issues and technical challenges, and discussed future development priorities and directions in this field. In accordance with the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, the symposium was held online and nearly 300 teachers and students attended.
Dean Zeng Zhigang delivered the opening speech. He pointed out that for the major strategic needs of the country such as intelligent manufacturing and smart power grid, Complex System embodied the characteristics of multi-disciplinary deep intersection and integration. The theories, methods and technologies of complex systems provided an inexhaustible source of innovation for the in-depth study of swarm intelligence. In order to promote the cooperation between scholars of the two fields, this symposium was held as a communication platform for complex systems and swarm intelligence scholars to track the frontier of the research.
