From November 9th to 10th, the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation of HUST held a series of activities with the Department of Physics and Engineering of ITMO University.
On the afternoon of November 9th, Dr. SUN Yali from ITMO University visited our school at the invitation of Professor LIU Wenzhong. Dr. SUN Yali gave a lecture entitled "Hybrid nanophotonics and applications" and had a discussion with the students.
On the evening of November 10th, the Department of Physics and Engineering of ITMO University and Professor LIU Wenzhong's team held an online academic seminar, in which they delivered academic reports and had some discussions. The seminar was hosted by Professor Mikhail Zubkov of ITMO University. More than 20 teachers and students participated in the online seminar.
Professor LIU Wenzhong gave an academic report titled "High resolution thermometry by using T2 relaxation of magnetic nanoparticles in NMR", showing the research status and examples of the high resolution NMR system built by the team, which aroused participants' lively discussions.
Anna A. Hurshkainen of ITMO University gave an academic report titled "Radiofrequency coils based on novel material concepts for UHF preclinical MRI", which focused on the use of new materials for MRI in cutting-edge research fields.
After the reports, a Q&A session was conducted.
During the seminar, the academic atmosphere was active, and the content was professional. At the end of the seminar, Professor LIU Wenzhong and the ITMO team thanked each other for their inspiring reports and discussions.
The academic reports have deepened the understanding of the frontiers of magnetic particle imaging (MPI) between the two parties, and have enlightened the students on their future scientific research. After the event, representatives from both sides felt that they have benefited a lot. The event has also laid a solid foundation for further cooperation.
This event is a part of our school's collaboration project with ITMO University. Our school is strengthening exchanges with ITMO University in scientific research cooperation, personnel training and many other aspects.

ITMO has been influential in R&D regarding IT, quantum science, and photonics, and has made a significant contribution to Russia's space and aerospace technology. The Department of Physics and Engineering of ITMO University originates from the International Research Centre of Nanophotonics and Metamaterials. At the Department of Physics and Engineering, over 20 research areas are being developed including nanophotonics, quantum optics, optoelectronics, optomechanics, biophotonics, radiophysics, and new materials.
Professor LIU Wenzhong is now recruiting postdocs from Russia and other “Belt and Road” countries to his laboratory on magnetic measurement and optics measurement, interested candidates can contact laixy@hust.edu.cn for more information.
