LIU Xiaokang is a lecturer of the Department of Automatic Control , School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation, Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

His research interests include stability on hybrid system; distributed control and optimization in smart grid

Academic Areas: Automatic Control/ Control Science and Engineering.

Academic Degrees: Ph.D. in Control Science and Engineering

B.S. in automatic control (2014) and Ph.D. in control science and engineering (2019), School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, June 2019. (Advisor: Prof. Yan-Wu Wang)

1.Research Fellow, at the school of EEE, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, from Oct. 2019 – Feb. 2021. Supervised by Prof. Changyun Wen.

Developed control and optimization method to solve the cyber-security problem in power system.

Proposed a fixed-time controller to save the computation resources compared with existing results, and the controller had been demonstrated on an DC microgrid test bed built in OPAL-RT 5600.

Prepared two Proposals with other two research fellows in the group.

2.Visiting Scholar, at the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences China, from Jun. - Sep. 2019. Supervised by Prof. Ji-Feng Zhang.

Developed a distributed consensus algorithm with differential privacy requirement. Compared with existing algorithms, our method does NOT require the privacy noise to decay along with time.

Completed two simulation studies: 1) a non-linear system with an adaptive tracking controller via MATLAB; 2) distributed estimation problem with a resilient algorithm via Python.

3.Intern Student, at the Energy Research Institute @NTU (ERIAN), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, at Nov. 2018 - Feb.2019. Supervised by Prof. Peng Wang and Dr. Koh Leong Hai Marcus.

Developed a unified controller for bidirectional interleaved converter (BIC), which is one of core techniques in an AC-DC hybrid Microgrid.

Developed an event-based switching control method for current sharing and voltage regulation of DC microgrid.

4.Visiting Student, University of Rhode Island, United States. July 2017- Aug. 2018. Supervised by Prof Haibo He.

Conducted research on reinforcement learning based method in Microgrid.

Built a Python & Simulink integrated Microgrid testbed.
